Website maintenance that never holds your site hostage.

Last updated: August 5, 2026

Website maintenance services keep a business website fast, secure, backed up, and online — hosting, SSL, software updates, daily backups, uptime monitoring, and small content fixes, handled for you every month. RedChip's Website Maintenance Plan is $99/month, hosting included, for websites we build and websites we didn't. Industry pricing guides put typical small-business maintenance at $95–$195 per month, usually on top of separate hosting — so one flat $99 that includes hosting sits at the bottom of the normal range. The bigger difference is what happens if you leave: you own the site, the domain, and every file, so canceling the plan never takes your website down. It's the same idea as the maintenance plans HVAC and plumbing companies sell their own customers — routine care that prevents expensive emergencies — applied to the one asset your business uses every single day.

What the $99/month Website Maintenance Plan includes

One flat fee covers the full scope of our website maintenance services — month to month, no contract. Here's the whole list — if it isn't on it, it isn't hiding in fine print somewhere:

Email boxesBusiness email at your domain, kept workingContinuous

What it deliberately doesn't include

Website maintenance services keep your website healthy. They do not try to grow your business — that's a different job with a different price, and blurring the two is how this industry ends up selling $99 "marketing" that's really just software updates. New content, local SEO and Google Business Profile management, review handling, social media, and monthly reporting live in our marketing engagements, not here. If you want growth work, we'll talk about it honestly as its own thing. If you just want your site looked after, this is the plan, and nobody will upsell you on a call you didn't ask for.

Why website maintenance matters

Three facts explain why website maintenance services earn their keep:

Updates are the whole security game. In Patchstack's 2025 analysis of the WordPress ecosystem, 91% of newly discovered vulnerabilities were in plugins — not WordPress itself, which logged just six low-risk issues all year. Translation: a site that nobody is patching accumulates known, published holes, and automated bots scan for exactly those. Applying updates promptly is unglamorous and non-optional.

Browsers punish neglect visibly. Chrome has flagged plain HTTP pages as "Not Secure" in the address bar since 2018. An expired SSL certificate is worse — a full-screen warning that turns customers around at the door. Certificate renewal is exactly the kind of thing that fails silently at 2 a.m. on a weekend unless someone is responsible for it.

Backups are the difference between an incident and a disaster. When something does go wrong — a bad update, a hack, a hosting failure — the recovery question is simply "how recent is the backup, and is it stored somewhere the failure can't reach?" Daily off-server backups with restores included mean the worst day is an inconvenience, not a rebuild. The FTC's small-business cybersecurity guidance says the same thing: keep software updated and back up your data regularly.

What website maintenance services cost — and why ours is $99

Here's the honest market picture, since almost nobody publishes one:

OptionTypical monthly costThe catch
Typical agency maintenance plan$95–$195/moHosting often billed separately; scope varies wildly
Website builder subscription (Wix, Squarespace, Thryv)$16–$1,100+/moThat's rent — stop paying and the site goes dark
Do it yourself$10–$50/mo in toolsYou are now the person patching plugins on a Saturday
RedChip Website Maintenance Plan$99/mo, hosting includedNone hiding: month-to-month, cancel anytime, you keep everything

WebFX's maintenance pricing survey puts typical annual spend at $3,600–$12,000 for business sites; most website maintenance services cluster around $95–$195 a month plus hosting in the 2026 small-business guides. We can hold a flat $99 with hosting included because we maintain a small number of sites we know deeply, on infrastructure we run — not a thousand tickets in a queue.

You own the site. The plan just maintains it.

Most web companies rent you your own website. Builder platforms keep the site inside their subscription — stop paying and it disappears, reviews and all. Some agencies register your domain in their name, so leaving means starting over. We do the opposite, on purpose:

  • The code is yours. A real website, not one locked inside a page-builder you can't leave.
  • The content is yours. Copy, photos, everything — exportable, always.
  • The domain is yours. Registered in your name from day one.
  • The exit is yours. Cancel the plan and we hand you everything and help you move it. You'd just be taking over the upkeep yourself.

A website is one of the few assets a small business builds once and uses for years. You should own it like one — and pay for its upkeep the way you'd pay for any maintenance: transparently, monthly, and only for as long as it's earning its keep.

How to start

Whether we built your site or someone else did, it works the same way:

  1. Free website review. We look at your current site's hosting, security, backups, and speed, and tell you plainly what state it's in. No obligation.
  2. Onboarding. We move the site onto our infrastructure (or tidy up where it is), set up backups and monitoring, and apply any overdue updates.
  3. It's handled. From then on: $99 a month, everything in the table above, and a real person answering email when you need a change.

Frequently asked questions

What do website maintenance services include?

Our website maintenance services include hosting, SSL, DNS and domain management, daily off-server backups with restores, software and security updates, 24/7 uptime monitoring, business email, up to 30 minutes of content edits monthly, and a quarterly health check. The full list is the table above — nothing extra hides behind a quote.

How much do website maintenance services cost?

Industry guides put small-business website maintenance at $95–$195 per month, often with hosting billed separately, and WebFX's survey shows $3,600–$12,000 per year as typical business spend. Our plan is a flat $99 per month with hosting included.

Do I have to buy a maintenance plan with a RedChip website?

No. You own the site outright after the build. The plan exists for owners who'd rather not think about hosting, security, and updates themselves — which, in practice, is most owners.

How is this different from a Wix or Squarespace subscription?

Theirs is rent: stop paying and the website disappears. Ours is a service fee for maintaining a site you already own. Cancel and you keep the website, the domain, and all the content — you'd just be handling the upkeep yourself.

Am I locked into a contract?

No. The plan is month-to-month and you can cancel anytime. Prefer annual? It's $990/year — two months free — but never required.

What counts as a small content edit?

Anything a normal month throws at a business site: updated hours, a price change, a new team photo, swapping a testimonial, adding a service to a list. Up to 30 minutes of work each month is included; bigger jobs — a new page, a redesign — get a plain quote first.

What happens if my site goes down or gets hacked?

Monitoring alerts us, usually before you notice. We restore from the most recent daily backup, patch whatever let the problem in, and tell you what happened in plain English. Restores are included in the plan, not billed as emergencies.

Can I move my website somewhere else later?

Yes, and we'll help you do it. Your domain, code, and content are yours to take — that's the point of owning them.
